France youth striker Mbaye Niang has rescinded his decision to play for Senegal after being invited by the Teranga Lions.
The France's U17 striker recently declared his intention to play for the country of his parents.
The 16-year-old was subsequently invited by Senegal to play in next week's friendly against Morocco.
But after pondering over the call-up, the Caen striker says he wants to stick with the European country.
"After discussing the invitation from Senegal at length with my family, I have decided to stay with France," Niang said.
"It was a difficult choice because I am attached to both countries.
"I want to say that I am truly grateful to Senegal for trusting me and I will not forget it."
Niang is still be eligible to play for Senegal until he turns out for the French senior national team.
The striker, whose parents hail from Senegal, was a revelation for French side Caen last season after scoring three goals in seven appearances.
He was part of coach Traore's 23-man squad to play the Atlas Lions in Dakar on 10 August.
